Bac Blot rules
Bac Blot — open blot — is the Armenian two-player variant where most of the game is in plain sight. Each player's cards are laid out on the table instead of held in hand, and you can see half of what your opponent can play.
It rewards a completely different kind of thinking from the four-player game: less guessing, more counting, and declarations you can announce twice.
The open table
- Two players, the full 32-card deck, 16 cards each
- Your cards are laid out as eight piles of two — two rows of four
- Each pile has a hidden card underneath and a face-up card on top
- You may only play a card that is face up and not covered by another
- Playing a card uncovers the one beneath it, which flips face up at the end of the trick
Choosing trump
Trump is decided on the first row alone — the second row is held back and only dealt out once someone takes the contract. You are committing on half your information.
- Only the first row is on the table while trump is being decided
- If both players pass, two extra cards are revealed as information and bidding continues
- A pass in the second round forces the dealer to choose
- Once trump is taken, the rest of the cards are dealt into the second row
Card values
The same values as the four-player Armenian game — trump jack 20, trump nine 14.

All-trump uses the trump column. 152 card points plus 10 for the last trick.
Declarations from open cards
This is where Bac Blot differs most. Only your open, uncovered cards can form a declaration — nothing hidden or already played counts. Because the table keeps opening up, a run can grow as you play.
A three-card run you declared for 20 can become a four-card run worth 50 as the next card flips, and you may declare it again. Announcing each step scores each step, so a run followed all the way pays 20, then 50, then 100.

Belote and rebelote — king and queen of trump — are worth 20.
Scoring
Armenian scoring: points are divided by ten and rounded, and the match runs to 101.
The taker has to strictly outscore the opponent — an exact tie counts as a failure. A failed contract gives the opponent everything, including the taker's belote. If the taker finishes with no card points at all, the opponent collects an extra 21.
Common questions
Can my opponent see my cards?
They see your face-up cards, and you see theirs — that is the point of the mode. The card underneath each pile stays hidden from both players until it is uncovered.
Can I really declare the same run twice?
Yes, when it has grown. Declaring a three-card run for 20 and then the same run as a four-card run scores both. Following a run from 20 to 100 pays every step along the way.
Does Bac Blot count toward my rating?
No. Bac Blot is a casual mode — it does not feed a rating bucket or the monthly tournament. Armenian Blot, 2-player Blot and Coinche are the rated modes.
